Bus, Truck or Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Apprentice orJourneyperson

As part of expansion strategy and to better serve our distributors and customers, we are hiring experienced 310T mechanics.

Location:

6625 Kestrel Rd. Mississauga, ONT. L5T 1P4

Major Intersection:

South of Courtneypark Dr. E. & Tomken Rd

Shift:

Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Overtime available, but not guaranteed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that safety is the top priority in all activities performed;

  • Conducts thorough and rigorous safety checks on vehicles;

  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair service, and emergency repairs toclient’s vehicles;

  • Able to advise Service Managers of additional repairs or maintenance that couldbe performed;

  • Prepare inspection, maintenance, work reports, and record details on prescribedforms in accordance with established procedures;

Physical Demands:
  • Lifting up to 50lbs;

  • Standing for extended periods of time;

  • Occasional bending or stooping;

  • Exposure to exhaust, grease and shop noise.

Skills that would make you the preferential candidate:
  • Our minimum experience requirements are a second or third year 310 Tapprentice, or fully licensed 310S mechanic interested in entering the 310T trade;

  • Experience with fire trucks and/or transit busses would be beneficial;

  • Experience working with minimal supervision;

  • Experience in rebuilding diesel engines;

  • Experiencing rebuilding heavy duty transmissions and axles;

  • Experience with rebuilding brakes and suspensions;

  • Use of computers. All of our employees are required to enter shop notes throughcomputers;

  • Must have own set of tools;

  • Experience using diagnostic software (Cummins, Detroit, Allison, ect.) an asset;

  • Ability to work autonomously, adapt to different situations and manage stress;

  • Demonstrate good teamwork skills and maintain positive interactions with others;

  • Good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills;

  • Knowledge of first aid, WHMIS, or Kaizen/Lean would be beneficial.
